Backwater are a Tribute Band for Status Quo and they hail from Ayrshire, Scotland. I managed to catch these guys live in a Great bar called the Twa Dugs in Ayr. This place was packed to the rafters. They opened the set off with the track 'Paper Plane' This had everyone on their feet, the setting was set for the rest of the night. 'Rain' came and went leaving way for 'Ice In The Sun' Leading into The classic 'Whatever You Want' Ripping it up on Guitar was Alex Stirling. Then came the song that set Status Quo on their Rockin Way 'Pictures of Matchstick Men' Class Vocals from Peter Cassidy who also played Guitar. Great songs kept coming 'Railroad' Brought the Bass man Phil Kean chugging along with the pulsing vibe. 'Roadhouse Blues' had every foot tapping in the place. Time for a little break. Beer was flowing the Bar staff was kept busy and played their part in top class service just as the band. Second half opened with a sing song 'Caroline' and 'Backwater' (I think they got their name here lol) The belters kept coming 'Dear John' just one of the standout tunes. Ending the night with 'Burning Bridges' and 'Down Down' Beating the skins on Drums was Craig Miller. Someone mentioned that they were better the the real Quo. Super Night, Super Band. If you get chance to catch these guys live, You won't be sorry.
